The Prayer of an Unknown Confederate Soldier

I asked God for strength that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.

I asked for help, that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.

I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing that I asked for but everything I hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.

I am, among all men, most richly blessed.

Hello Tina! I haven't talked to you forever. I was just remembering how we celebrated the fourth of July last year and was thinking about you and your family. Glad to hear the Ken is doing okay. Hope you are getting settled in to your new house. It looks very nice!

HI Tesa,
I am so lad you posted a comment. I was thinking about us all being together last year just yesterday. I wish we could have done it again this year. Ae you going to Grandmother's birthday celebration? I would like to, but I don't think I can. The house is coming along. It is a bit of a challenge because we have no kitchen yet, but I do love the way it is all turning out and we are more settled and functional. I will be glad when it is done though. Keep checking and I will post some more pics. Ken is doing fabulous, It is like night and day. He is still a litlle stiff and he has some burning sensations in his foot, but everything went very well. I hooe all is well with all of your family.

Summer is flying by, as it always does! We are well. Courtnei has been in Austria for a week on a missions trip. We miss her! I really wanted to go to Nana's party but I don't think it is going to happen. Kevin is still not working a full schedule. Hope you are having a good summer. We would really like to get back to Maine next summer.
